Kraków

In order to get to Krakow from Innsbruck, you travel through the Czech Republic so our passports are now well stamped after this weekend's trip.  Started in Austria, thru Czech Republic, to Poland and then through Slovenia to Hungary.
Now Entering the Czech Republic The Polish countryside (or it could have been Czech Republic) Austria, Czech, or Poland
might be any of them.  you lose track of what country you are in on the train sometimes.  They are all beautiful.
We took the overnight train from Innsbruck to Krakow and arrived at 0600 (6:00 a.m.).  Beautiful morning in Poland.  Although we immediately jumped on a bus to Auschwitz about 90 minutes away, we returned to the beauty of Krakow to see some sights and eat an incredible meal at a restaurant recommended to us by the tour guide at Auschwitz.
Steve relaxing in the couchette car Does this sign say to throw bottles out of the window?  The "No Smoking" sign had the red line through the cigarette. Ed demonstrates how to follow the laws of Poland.
We made the best of the time on the train, before getting a decent night's sleep on the train.  The train ride was about 12 hours, with a running transfer in Austria.  A running transfer is when you grab you bags and haul butt to catch the next train.  For us, the next train included catching the city trolley/subway to the other train station in Vienna. Austria.
It looks crowded but when everyone was in their bunk, it was OK.  Just hope that no one snores. Andrew tries to decide if he prefers beer or water.  Guess which one he choose. The Traveling Group outside the Dragon's Den at Wawel Castle

From the Wawel castle looking over the river in Krakow View of the river from a staircase window We really only saw one site in Krakow so there are lots of pictures of this very large and impressive castle

Here is the side of the cathedral Krakow native Karol Wojtyla was archbishop before becoming Pope John Paul II Fountain and Church in Krakow's City Center Some things just don't mean the same thing in other languages.

Andrew plays the role of the Dragon who lived in the caves below the Wawel Castle.  Oddly, Gwen did not know that Andrew was doing that behind her.  She was reacting to the camera on her own. Andrew stops for an illicit photo with flash in St. Mary's Catedral Andrew, Ed, and Mike pose for a moment to admire the beauty of Krakow's Rynek Główny (city center)
