Aegina, Greece | ||
August 12 | ||
What a beautiful island this is. The closest island to Athens - so the ferry ride was relatively short. Most of the big and more popular islands were 5 hours or more away via ferry and due to expected limited time, we chose the short trip and we chose well. We rented scooters and toured the island.

Temple of Afea | ||
According to one book, this temple is supposed to be the third point of an equilateral triangle with the Temple of Poseidon in Sounio and the Acropolis in Athens. We're not sure if it is, but it looks close, just maybe not exact.

On the other side of the island from the port, we went into one little hotel - Hotel Erato - and ran across a woman who was staying there. She informed us that the manager was not available and to come back in an hour. She then told us that he was sleeping. It was about 1 p.m. Odd hotel, but interesting, especially after we heard the price - 15 Euros per person per night. Damn, that's better than what we got in Athens. The "staff" of one spoke English - he was from Scotland, and most of the guests spoke English natively as well. We had a blast of a time just hanging out with everyone. We mostly hung out at the hotel and relaxed, reading books, and having some cheap Greek wine. |

At night we continue to hang with the guests and then jumped into the pool from the 2nd and 3rd story balconies.
